Heavy Rows, Real Counts, No Warehouse Theater

The counter is built around materials Rochester darkrooms burn through: film in the fridge, paper that has not been cooked in a window, chemistry with clear dating, sleeves that fit archive boxes, and enlarger parts inspected before they earn a price tag.

Processing And Bench Time Stay Practical

Black-and-white 35mm or 120 develop only is $8.00 per roll. Develop with contact sheet and standard scan is $18.00 per roll. Push or pull processing is $3.00 per stop.

Community darkroom bench rental is $16.00 per hour or $42.00 for a 3-hour block. First-time orientation is $25.00, credited against the first rental if booked the same week.

Owner Note

The D-76 and fixer cartons are marked with blue tape because black marker disappears under the amber safelight over the packing bench.

A Parts List That Became A Counter

Photo Source Book opened in Rochester in 1998 as a printed parts-and-supply list for local darkrooms after several regional camera stores stopped carrying trays, safelights, and paper in depth. The business moved online early but kept the counter culture: practical advice, real stock counts, and no romance about tools that do not work.

Lead Time

Standard black-and-white processing is ready in 3 business days. Contact sheets add 1 business day during school term peaks in September, October, February, and March.

Pickup

In-stock counter orders can be picked up the same day. Film and paper pickups stop 20 minutes before closing.
