Supplies With Stock Counts Attached

Photo Source Book is not trying to look like a giant warehouse. The point is narrower and more useful: the black-and-white materials Rochester darkrooms actually need, with clear prices, refrigerated film, winter chemistry cautions, and used parts that have been tested.

The Normal Shelf Is Technical, Not Romantic

The counter keeps black-and-white basics deep enough for coursework, home darkrooms, and archive jobs, then special-orders the odd sizes without pretending every carton is sitting in the back room.

Film

35mm, 120, and 4x5 black-and-white stocks normally carried, including HP5 Plus, Tri-X, Delta, T-Max, FP4 Plus, and sheet film when distributor cartons are moving.

Paper

RC and fiber papers in common student and working sizes: 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20. Pearl and glossy surfaces move fastest.

Chemistry

D-76, paper developers, stop bath, rapid fixer, hypo clear, selenium toner by request, graduates, bottles, and storage labels.

Darkroom Tools

Trays, tongs, thermometers, changing bags, safelight lamps, grain focusers, easels, timers, and sleeves for jobs that need clean handling.

Archival

Negative pages, print sleeves, glassine, binder boxes, interleaving tissue, cotton gloves, and storage materials for school and archive staff.

Used Parts

Bulbs, condensers, negative carriers, timers, enlarger lenses, lens boards, and odd Durst, Beseler, Omega, and LPL parts when tested stock appears.

Film Examples
Format Normally Carried Example Price Storage Note
35mm Ilford HP5 Plus 36 exposure $9.75 per roll Refrigerated and rotated by carton date
120 Kodak Tri-X 400 $8.95 per roll Cold storage, counted before class-term weekends
4x5 Ilford and Kodak black-and-white sheets by availability Quoted by box Special-order cartons arrive Thursday when in stock

Paper Boxes Are Sold Like Materials, Not Decor

Ilford Multigrade RC Deluxe pearl 8x10, 25 sheets is $28.50. RC paper is usually the fastest shelf mover for student labs. Fiber paper, 11x14 cases, 16x20 boxes, and alternate surfaces are handled through the Monday special-order cutoff when the shelf count is thin.

Chemistry includes Kodak D-76 powder to make 1 gallon at $13.25 and Ilford Rapid Fixer 1 liter at $18.40. Developer, stop, fixer, hypo clear, graduates, storage bottles, and labels can be bundled for home darkroom resets.

Winter Shipping

Liquid chemistry is not shipped in winter if the overnight forecast on the route is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Powder chemistry and counter pickup are the safer route when the lake-effect forecast gets ugly.

A cheap timer that drifts is not cheap after the second ruined box of paper.

Inspected Beats Pretty

Negative Carriers

Checked for format, seating, alignment surfaces, and filed edges that could scratch film.

Enlarger Lenses

Inspected for haze, fungus, aperture movement, and practical coverage rather than shelf shine.

Timers And Easels

Timers are tested for repeatability. Easels are checked for blades that hold square and do not creep.

Trays And Safelights

Trays are checked for cracks and residue. Safelights are sold only when the filter and lamp make sense together.

Grain Focusers

Mirrors, bases, and focus clarity are checked because a foggy focuser makes sharp work slow.

Used enlarger parts are tested before sale. Bulbs, condensers, negative carriers, and timers are sold as inspected used items with a 7-day return window.
